Aladdin/Jasmine Inspired Birthday Party
The first party that I would like to share with you is my little sister's 5th birthday party. She turned 5 last November and my other sister and I worked hard together to bring her to "Arabia" right in the comfort of my home. Some of the things that I would like to highlight in regards to DIY include our construction paper lanterns, Arabian castle backdrop, name banner, streamer curtain and table decor. I will be attaching pictures to show each aspect along with an explanation.
This was the table setting that we had set up for our little sister and her party guests. To go along with the theme we decided to set a table up low to the ground and have the kids sitting on pillows. We purchased 2 white table tops from Ikea for $8.99 each and propped them up with empty pamper boxes covered in construction paper (I had a ton of these boxes from my little one...lol). We used brand new pillows which we covered in satin pillow cases ordered from Amazon or Ebay (can't remember which) for a very low cost. The table is adorned with diamond plates (really squares), colorful beaded jewelry and hand painted mason jars (jars purchased from Michaels and painted by my sister) with tea lights in them. The backdrop from this setting is nothing more than a tablecloth with a DIY cardstock name banner (made by my sister also). Attached to the letters are tassels ordered from Amazon.com.
On to the cake/sweet table and other decor. For the backdop my sister and I sketched and cut out an Arabian castle using gold and white poster board. This may not be as easy for someone who cannot draw or isn't very artistice but there are tons of other backdrop options that I will be sharing in other posts. In this picture I also wanted to highlight our paper lanterns on the ceiling. My sister and I, mostly my sister...lol, worked really hard on these lanterns. The gold tape and black tassels really made the lanterns come to life!!
Here's the sweet table which was pretty simple to assemble. This table consists of the cake, number 4 chocolate pops, cupcakes, chocolate covered Oreos and candy gold coins. I also used some more beads to cover the table as well. My sister created the Jasmine design to fit my sister's profile and we printed them out an incorporated them into the decorations as well. All of the treats in this picture were made by me!! One of the MAJOR perks of party planning is not having to pay for an expensive cake and sweets!
